Sustainability at Ahlcon

Sustainability is one of our important corporate values

As a corporate citizen, the company is involved in activities that extend beyond its own core business. We are convinced that sustainable thinking strengthens our company, encourages growth, and makes an essential contribution.

Sustainable action promotes collaboration, strengthens relationships with the society, and creates added value as a result. Ahlcon understands the need to focus towards the rural population in the region and around our manufacturing facilities. In line with our sustainability focus, we have initiated projects directed towards health, hygiene, sanitation, education and the environment. Together, we can sustainably improve the health of people around the world.

Our responsibility to the society

As part of the B. Braun Group, we support acts around the world as a "citizen of society". We consider this to mean that we act as a good citizen for society in the long term, beyond our actual business activities. The mobile medical unit (MMU) is one such initiative.

The mobile medical unit (MMU) visits twelve villages surrounding our Ahlcon plant in Bhiwadi. The MMU travels for six days a week and ensures ease of accessibility for the people living there to diagnose ailments at an early stage. These checkups include monitoring of blood sugar, blood pressure and hemoglobin as well as providing appropriate medicine for free.

Inaugurated on 16 April 2019, as a part of our engagement with the Rajasthan state government, 25 sanitary napkin dispensing units were installed at Jaipur in various urban primary healthcare centres. As part of the event, a workshop was conducted to emphasise the importance of hygiene and to demonstrate how to use the machine and refill it. The workshop was attended by health officials from the Government of Rajasthan.

In addition to this, Ahlcon has installed sanitary pad dispensing units in government secondary schools near our plants in Bhiwadi in order to contribute towards the awareness, education and promotion of menstrual hygiene in the early life stages of female students. This initiative is aimed at increasing access to quality sanitary pads among adolescent girls residing primarily in rural areas. The napkins are available for free for the female students and replenished regularly.

With the nationwide campaigning of "Clean India" initiative, a lot of sanitation-focused effort is being taken across the country. In rural India, this would mean improving the levels of cleanliness through Solid and Liquid Waste Management activities and making villages clean, sanitised and Open Defecation Free (ODF).

In support of this initiative, Ahlcon took the responsibility of constructing the toilets in the 3 police stations near our Bhiwadi plant: Bhiwadi Mod, Phoolbagh and UIT Sector 3.

Our responsibility to the environment

Our environment faces growing challenges: climate change, resource scarcity and an increasing global population. In support of environment sustainability, accesssibility of open spaces, and cleanliness of public areas, we at Ahlcon have undertaken the development and maintenance of a park in the vicinity of our plant in Bhiwadi.

Design and renovation work of the park include the plantation of trees, designation of seating areas, wall painting, and installation of proper lighting.
